Successful applicants will have some experience of teaching or tutoring, but do not need to be qualified teachers. They will have an excellent academic record and a full appreciation of the topics we focus on at Civitas Schools.

Applicants should demonstrate a genuine interest in educational issues and an awareness of different teaching methods and ideas. Applicants must be able to commit to teaching for at least one school year, and be able to commit to each weekly session, in order to create a stable learning environment for the children.

Our term dates run loosely in line with mainstream school dates. Terms are normally 11 or 12 weeks long, with a break for half term in the middle. Remuneration is between £18 and £28 per hour dependent upon the applicant’s experience and the specific role.

If you are interested in teaching with us you should send a covering letter and CV to the project director. Please state in your covering letter if you would like to work in a particular location or at a particular time.

Candidates who are offered an interview will be asked to design a lesson plan and meet specific eligibility tests. All offers are then subject to the results of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Current vacancies

We are now seeking teachers who will be available from September 2025 on Saturdays. See our LinkedIn advert here, and contact the director (as above) to apply.
